Amanda Doughty Jewellery at the Museum of Arts & Design, New York -
Now launching in the UK.
Dear friends,
It's been almost two months since I returned from New York where I exhibited at Mad About Jewelry at The Museum of Art and Design. Wow what an experience!
New York was a huge success, it was incredible to be there amongst such
amazing talent in the jewellery world.
It was a year long project for me, having been invited by the esteemed curator,
Contemporary jewellery specialist, Bryna Pomp. Its an honor to have been
invited, it is a show I have always wanted to do.
This year 2024 is extra important to me as I have been officially in business for
30 years, so no better way to celebrate than to develop new work for New York.
I am delighted to say that I was also successful in securing Arts Council Funding
- Develop Your Creative Practice – aimed at exploring new markets nationally
and internationally.
These two opportunities have enabled me to confidently develop and produce
work which I perhaps have not explored prior to this. Scaling up the work for a
show is such a priviledge.
The collection was very well received and many pieces reside now in the US with
their buyers. I met so many incredible people, not least 49 other brilliant jewellers from across the globe, many of whom are now friends.
Alongside the show I also spent time in the city, exploring the art and the
architecture. My love of photography was satisfied; I have so many images of NY I would like to share with you, see my instagram.
Upon my return I have spent time cataloguing the work, reaching out to patient
clients back here and have been photographing the work.
The most exciting was to work on my third studio shoot with the incredible
Natasha Bidgood on a studio shoot, exclusively using the NY range.
The model some of you may know, is my daughter who was unbelievably
professional and patient. Thank you to them both.
With very best wishes,
Amanda
